Good news for crores of Indians who only want to make calls and send SMS – no data, no bakwas!

India’s telecom regulator TRAI has dropped a bombshell draft on April 7, 2026, that could finally bring relief to feature phone users, elderly aunties-uncles, villagers, and low-income families who are tired of being forced to buy expensive data bundles just to keep their numbers active.

Kya Hai Naya Proposal?

TRAI has proposed that Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) must offer Voice + SMS Only Plans for every single validity period that they currently offer in their normal data packs.

Matlab:

• Agar 28-day data pack hai → toh 28-day voice + SMS only pack bhi hona chahiye
• Daily, weekly, 28-day, 84-day… har recharge ke liye alag se sasta voice-only plan
• Price bhi proportionately kam hoga – sirf calls aur SMS ke hisaab se

Pehle bhi 2024 mein thoda sa rule tha, lekin woh kaafi nahi tha. Ab TRAI bol raha hai – poora mazboot rule la rahe hain taaki koi bhi banda extra data ke paise na bhare.

Kaun Kaun Fayda Uthaayega?

• Feature phone wale bhai-behen
• Budhe maa-baap jo sirf call karte hain
• Gaon aur chhote shehron ke log
• Roz chhote recharge karne wale low-income families

Bahut logon ki shikayat thi ki paise kam hote hain, lekin data pack lena padta hai warna number band ho jaata hai. Ab yeh problem khatam hone wali hai!

Ab Kya Hoga?

TRAI ne draft public kar diya hai. Ab tak log aur companies apne comments de sakte hain – 28 April 2026 tak.

Agar yeh rule final ho gaya, toh Jio, Airtel aur Vi ko har plan ke saath sasta voice-only version dena hi padega.
