By Masala Mirror Desk December 24, 2025

Namaste, food lovers! The king of Indian plates has retained its crown for the 10th year in a row. Biryani continues to spice up our lives as the undisputed champion of Swiggy orders in 2025, with an mouth-watering 93 million plates delivered across the country.

Swiggy’s much-awaited annual stat pack, “How India Swiggy’d 2025”, dropped just in time for the festive season, and the numbers are as delicious as a perfectly dum-ed Hyderabadi biryani. That’s 3.25 biryani orders every single second – or roughly 194 steaming pots per minute!

The star of the show? None other than chicken biryani, clocking a massive 57.7 million orders – the highest for any single item and the one with the most loyal repeat customers who just can’t get enough.

Swiggy’s Top 5 Most-Ordered Dishes of 2025

  1. Biryani – 93 million orders
  2. Burgers – 44.2 million orders
  3. Pizzas – 40.1 million orders
  4. Veg Dosa – 26.2 million orders
  5. Idli – 11 million orders

From the aromatic layers of Lucknowi biryani to the fiery kick of Chettinad and the potato-filled delight of Kolkata’s version, biryani’s regional magic keeps Indians hooked. While burgers and pizzas give tough competition in the fast-food arena, nothing comes close to dethroning our desi favourite.

What Else India Craved in 2025

  • Evening snacking peaked between 3-7 PM, with 3.42 million samosas and 2.9 million cups of adrak chai ordered.
  • Global flavours gained ground: Mexican dishes (16 million), Tibetan momos & more (over 12 million), and Korean delights (4.7 million).
  • Hyperlocal love exploded – Pahari cuisine grew 9x, while Malabari and Rajasthani specialities nearly doubled.
  • Dinner trumped lunch by 32%, proving Swiggy is now the go-to for late-night hunger pangs and family feasts.

As Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, beautifully said: “In India, food is never just food – it’s how moments begin.”

Whether it’s a solo treat after a long day or a grand weekend spread, biryani remains the ultimate comfort, celebration, and craving-satisfier for millions.

Here’s raising a spoon to another year of spice, rice, and everything nice!
