Ikkis Movie Review 2026: Agastya Nanda Shines in Sriram Raghavan’s Gripping Anti-War Biopic – Full Verdict

Mumbai, January 2, 2026 Masala Mirror

Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis has hit theatres on January 1, 2026, and it’s already creating massive buzz! This emotional war biopic on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal – the youngest Param Vir Chakra winner from the 1971 Indo-Pak War – marks Agastya Nanda’s big-screen debut and features the legendary Dharmendra in what is being called his heartfelt final performance.

The film beautifully blends high-stakes battlefield action with a powerful anti-war message, showing the human side of soldiers on both sides of the border. Raghavan masterfully weaves two timelines: young Arun’s heroic stand during the intense Battle of Basantar and, years later, his father (Dharmendra) meeting the Pakistani officer (Jaideep Ahlawat) who fought against his son.

Agastya Nanda nails it as the brave yet innocent 21-year-old officer – his performance is raw, sincere, and totally convincing. This Bachchan grandson has arrived! Dharmendra brings tears with his graceful, emotional portrayal, making every scene with him unforgettable. Jaideep Ahlawat is outstanding as the dignified enemy commander, delivering yet another power-packed act. The supporting cast, including Simar Bhatia in the romantic track, adds warmth and heart.

Critics are loving the film’s maturity – it’s being hailed as one of the most sensitive and thoughtful war movies in recent Bollywood history. Average ratings hover around 3.5 to 4 stars, with praise for the realistic tank battle sequences, tight scripting, and Raghavan’s signature suspense touches even in a biopic format. Bollywood Hungama calls it “a deeply moving tribute,” while many reviewers appreciate how it balances patriotism with empathy, offering a refreshing break from over-the-top jingoism.

Of course, it’s sparking debates online! Some fans are calling it “too soft” on the enemy side, while others are praising it for rising above chest-thumping and showing the real cost of war. But one thing everyone agrees on – the emotional climax will leave you in tears.

Despite clashing with the mega-blockbuster DhurandharIkkis opened strong with around ₹7 crore nett on Day 1 and is getting superb word-of-mouth, especially from family audiences.

Verdict: A must-watch for powerful performances, emotional depth, and a meaningful story. Book your tickets now – this one stays with you!
